Compatibility

The AUTOCYB® series of CYBER LOCKS are standardized to fit post-1996 OBDII compliant U.S. cars and light trucks.

WILL IT FIT MY VEHICLE?

We wish we could say yes, absolutely – but we cannot. It depends if your vehicle is OBD II compliant.

All cars and light trucks built and sold in the United States after January 1, 1996 were required to be OBD II equipped. In general, this means all 1996 model year cars and light trucks are compliant, even if built in late 1995. All gasoline vehicles manufactured in Europe were required to be OBD II compliant after January 1, 2001. Diesel vehicles were not required to be OBD II compliant until January 1, 2004. All vehicles manufactured in Australia and New Zealand were required to be OBD II compliant after January 1, 2006. Some vehicles manufactured before this date are OBD II compliant, but this varies greatly between manufacturers and models.

One factor indicating if your vehicle is OBD II compliant is an OBD II connector called a Diagnostic Link Connector (DLC). This connector must be accessible and functional (meaning that one can easily find and attach the lockout to it). The problem is there are millions and millions of vehicles that have this connector installed since 1996, and over time the connector has been used for many purposes such as emissions testing, vehicle tune-up or maintenance and in some cases it got damaged. The vehicle’s connector may have been loosened by others using a diagnostic scan tool or a plug-in-dongle. Then again, an automaker may have placed it within a tight covered compartment that is not accessible.

The best we can do is send you our product attached to a new connector to demonstrate that it works as advertised. We also inform you prior to the sale of our product that it may not attach to all vehicles.

Outside the U.S.?

This product is globally standardized but be aware that because it works on a car or truck model in the U.S. does NOT guarantee that it will attach to the same model outside the U.S. Check the year/make/model. If it says "SUPPORTED" we mean that the vehicle must be U.S. OBD2 compliant with a functional and accessible Diagnostic Link Connector. If the connector is embedded in a case with a lid it may not permit proper locking. We highly advise that you inspect the connector to assure it is not enclosed or obstructed before you purchase. All sales are final.
